Coffee, Is It Good For You Or Bad For You?

Is drinking this every day helping or harming your weight loss?

Isn't it interesting how there are some food and drinks on this planet that in large quantities can be poison to us, and in small quantities can be medicine to us?

Take coffee for example.

There are countless studies to support the fact that in small quantities (about 1 cup of coffee / day) can actually help to bring forth certain healthful qualities like mental alertness, and increased circulation.

While in large quantities, coffee can lead to headaches, digestive difficulties and nervousness, so basically the opposite.

How about weight loss?

In certain ways coffee can bring about an alertness that will help you become more active and thereby help you to lose weight or maintain weight loss. It can also act as an appetite suppressant and help to curve cravings for sweets.

Coffee also has a thermogenic (heat creating) affect on the body, which in turn speeds up the rate in which you burn calories.

So all these being said, in moderation, coffee can be a wonderful (and highly pleasurable) tool for weight loss.

On the down side.

Too much coffee can increase stress, insomnia and anxiety, all of which can directly cause overeating.

Coffee is also a sneaky vehicle of calories with what is being added like high fat creams and low quality sugars (I personally love the richness of honey in my coffee as a healthier sweetener).

So again, like everything in life, moderation is the key. Use this dark, rich and decadent tools in small quantities as a medicine and enjoy it thoroughly while you do. Just beware of the dark side when you start going for that 3rd and 4th cup in a day and choose a nice fresh glass of water or herbal tea instead.

With love,
