Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce Recipe

This spaghetti bolognese is made with both ground beef and pork, a little white wine, tomato sauces and simple seasonings. Serve this tasty sauce with you favorite pasta.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon olive oil
2 onions, finely chopped (3 cups)
3 carrots, finely chopped (1 cup)
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1/4 cup tomato paste
coarse salt
fresh ground pepper
1 cup dry white wine
1 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
3 bay leaves
1 cup milk
(Makes 4-6 servings)

Directions

Sauce

In a large 5 quart saucepan, heat the oil.

Add the onions, carrots and garlic and cook for 2 minutes until softened.

Add the ground beef and ground pork and cooking breaking the meat up with a spoon so it has a crumbly texture. Cook until there is no pink showing.

Add the tomato paste and cook another minutes.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add the white wine and the crushed tomatoes and the bay leaves.

Bring the sauce to a boil, then turn down and let it simmer, covered with a lid for an hour.

Add the milk, then simmer for 15 more minutes.

Do a taste test and add more salt and pepper if needed.

Shut off, and remove the bay leaves.

If eating right away, cook your pasta and serve with the sauce.
