Meatball Sauce Recipe

This recipe for meatball sauce goes well on rice, pasta or even a sandwich.

Ingredients

SAUCE
4 garlic cloves, chopped
3 (29 ounce) cans Italian-style tomato sauce
4 (6 ounce) cans Italian-style tomato paste
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (one teaspoon dry parsley may be substituted)
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil (one teaspoon dry basil may be substituted)

MEATBALLS
2 lbs ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1 cup dry Italian style breadcrumbs
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (one teaspoon dry parsley may be substituted)

Directions

Take a heavy sauce pan and add the garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, parsley and basil.

Bring to a boil over medium heat then turn down the heat and simmer.

Mix the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder and parsley together in a bowl then shape into 1 1/2 inch balls .

This should make about 40 meat balls.

In a large frying pan, fry meatballs in hot oil until browned.

Simmer the sauce and the meat balls over low heat for about four hours.
