Ingredients

Onion Rings
1 medium to small onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
seasoned salt to taste
1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
Other Ingredients
6 wieners
6 toasted wiener buns
6 thin pieces of cheddar cheese
ketchup

Directions

Onion Rings

Pre heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F.

In a medium sized bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.

Place the bread crumbs into shallow dish.

Dip the onion slices into the flour mixture until they are all coated; set aside.

Whisk the egg and milk into the flour mixture using a fork. Dip the floured rings into the batter to coat, then place rings one at a time into the crumbs, and scoop the crumbs up over the ring to coat. Repeat with remaining onion rings.

Deep fry the onion rings a few at a time for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove to paper towels to drain. Line the onion rings up in a row on a dish and put the cheese onto them while they are warm so the cheese melts.

Drop the wieners into the deep-fryer and cook for 3-7 minutes depending on how crispy you would like them.

OR if you want to use boiled wieners rather than deep fried, put the wieners into a small pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 3-5 minutes.

Slide the cooked wieners into the cheese coated onion rings, place in the toasted bun and drizzle with ketchup.
