Homemade Scones Recipe

Scones are quick to make and always appreciated.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 Tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces
1/4 cup granulated sugar
(use 1/3 for slightly sweeter scones)
2/3 cup milk

Toppings: Cream cheese and your favorite jam.

Directions

Heat oven to 425°degrees F.

Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

Put flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl and mix well.

Add butter and cut in with a pastry blender or rub in with your fingers, until the mixture looks like fine grains.

Add the sugar and mix in.

Add milk and stir with a fork until dough forms.

Form dough into a ball and turn smooth side up.

Pat or roll into about a piece about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.

Cut each circle into 6 or 8 wedges or cut scones with a glass. Cut circles with a cookie cutter or a glass.

Place the scones onto the baking sheet.

Space slightly apart for crisp sides, touching for soft.

Bake about 12 minutes, or until medium brown on top.
