Make these tasty Brussel sprouts with or without the garlic. A great side dish for that special meal.
Clean the outside leaves off the Brussels sprouts.
Cut an 'X' in the core end of each Brussels sprout. Set sprouts aside.
Cut the bacon slices into 1/2 inch pieces.
Place the pieces into a large skillet and cook over medium high heat, turning occasionally, until crispy.
Line a plate with paper towels and transfer the cooked bacon to the plate to drain.
Remove the bacon fat from the skillet.
Heat the 1 teaspoon butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir garlic until golden brown.
Place the Brussels sprouts into the skillet and toss to coat.
Stir in broth, salt, and black pepper; cover and cook until Brussels sprouts are tender, 12 to 14 minutes.
Drain liquid from pan.
Stir remaining 2 teaspoons butter into Brussels sprouts mixture until melted.
Stir in the crispy bacon and serve hot.
