Beer Battered Onion Rings Recipe

Serve these beer battered onions rings hot for the yummiest snack.

Ingredients

2 -3 large sweet onions,cut crosswise into thick slices
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
16 ounces beer
4 egg whites
2 1/2 cups plain breadcrumbs

Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and pepper.

Add the beer and stir until combined. Cover and let stand for 30 minutes.

In a new bowl, beat egg whites with electric mixer until soft peaks form, Fold egg whites into the batter.

Pour the bread crumbs onto a shallow dish.

Dip the onion slices in the batter, then dredge through the bread Crumbs and place in a single layer, on wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Use wax paper to separate the layers. As soon as possible put the cookie sheet in the freezer. Freeze rings for at least 1 hour.

Heat oil to 375F.

Frying onion rings, being careful not to crowd the pan.

Cook until golden and then remove with tongs, transferring to a paper towel.

Serve hot.
